This arable farming project on 49.05 hectares in the municipality of Rives-d'Autise follows the Grandes Cultures method: the farm changes its cropping practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and store carbon in its soils. Labelled under the Label Bas-Carbone, it targets 1,597 tonnes of CO₂e of expected emission reductions and soil carbon storage over its duration: they will be recognised after verification.
Possible practices under this method to reduce emissions and store carbon in soils.

Beyond its climate effect, each project acts on the environment and the local area. Here is the assessment of this project, dimension by dimension.
This project targets 1,597 tonnes of CO₂e of expected emission reductions and soil carbon storage over its duration: they will be recognised after verification. The Grandes Cultures method compares, field by field, emissions and soil carbon before and after the change in practices. Depending on the chosen levers, the project limits nitrous oxide emissions from fertilisers and increases the carbon stored in soils (cover crops, legumes, organic inputs).
Its effects on biodiversity depend on the chosen practices; the method focuses on emissions and soil carbon.
Its effects on water depend on the chosen practices, notably fertilisation and soil cover.
Soil carbon storage is part of what the method counts: depending on the chosen practices, cover crops, organic inputs and rotations add organic matter to soils.
This project of 49.05 ha in Rives-d'Autise supports an arable farm in changing its practices.
The 17 SDGs are a global framework defined by the United Nations to build a sustainable future by 2030. This project directly contributes to 5 of them. Here's why.
Zero Hunger
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition
Why this project: This project supports an arable farm in Rives-d'Autise that keeps producing: it contributes to food production with lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Clean Water and Sanitation
Ensure availability and sustainable management of water
Why this project: Depending on the chosen practices (fertilisation, soil cover), the project may protect water quality.
Responsible Consumption and Production
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Why this project: This project shifts cropping practices on 49.05 ha towards lower-emission production.
Climate Action
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Why this project: This is the primary impact: this project targets 1,597 tonnes of CO₂e of expected emission reductions and soil carbon storage under the Label Bas-Carbone framework: they will be recognised after verification. Every ton avoided or stored in soils helps limit climate change.
Life on Land
Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems
Why this project: Depending on the chosen practices, cover crops and more varied rotations support soil life.

Transition to low-carbon farming practices: cover crops, reduced tillage, legumes, fine-tuned nitrogen fertilisation. The method leverages every tool available across the farm.
The Label Bas-Carbone is the official framework of the French Ministry of Ecological Transition for emission reduction projects carried out in France. A project is labelled on the basis of its application, following a method approved by the ministry. Its emission reductions are then verified by an independent auditor before being recognised by the ministry.
How it works:
1. The project owner submits a file describing the reference scenario (without project) and the project scenario.
2. The difference between the two scenarios gives the net emission reductions, expressed in tons of CO₂ equivalent.
3. An independent auditor verifies the data in the field and validates the calculations.
4. The ministry issues the Low-Carbon Label and carbon credits are issued.
5. The project is monitored for 5 years with periodic verifications.
